My Running Story:
I’ve pretty much always loved running, but I wouldn’t have called myself a runner until 2015. It was a year after I had my first son and I wanted to get in better shape, plus have an activity that gave me some alone time. I put my name into the lottery for the 2016 Chicago Marathon… and I won a spot. I followed my training plan pretty closely and fell in love with the sport. My goal was to finish in 5 hours or less, and I’m very proud to have finished in 4:48:47. Best of all, my son was able to watch my achieve my goal. I ran the 2017 Chicago Marathon as well, this time while raising money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, in honor of my friend’s father. I got pregnant shortly after that race with my second son, so I took a break from running. But then six months after giving birth, I ran the 2019 Miami Half Marathon. I won a spot in the NYC Marathon, which I’ll be running in 2020. I love running, and even though I’m not speedy, I’m proud of how far I’ve come.
